Grade 11 is where most students first fall behind. There is no diploma exam, so the pressure feels lower — but 20-level courses are the direct prerequisites for the diploma courses, and gaps left here surface in Grade 12 as a crisis.

Alberta course codes are not how most people search. Grade 11 students and parents look for these under names like Applied Math 20, Bio 20, Biology 20, Chem 20, Chemistry 20, Grade 11 Biology, Grade 11 Chemistry, Grade 11 Math — all of which point to the courses above. Note that only mathematics splits into −1 and −2 streams; Physics, Chemistry and Biology have a single stream at each level.
