Grade 10 is the streaming year. Math 10C decides whether a student can enter Math 20-1 (and therefore Math 30-1), and Science 10 sets up Physics, Chemistry and Biology 20. Marks here quietly determine which Grade 12 courses are available.

Course names vary
Alberta course codes are not how most people search. Grade 10 students and parents look for these under names like Grade 10 Math, Math 10, Math 10 Combined, Math 10-C — all of which point to the courses above. Note that only mathematics splits into −1 and −2 streams; Physics, Chemistry and Biology have a single stream at each level.
